My journey in music began with my brother, Jeff Hoy—known lovingly as "Todd."
As a child, I would sit and listen as he practiced, captivated by his beautiful vibrato and the clarity of his sound. He became my first musical inspiration, my first trumpet teacher, my first piano teacher, and my first organ teacher. Through his guidance, I discovered not only music, but purpose.
That foundation carried me through elementary school, high school, and eventually earned me a full scholarship to Memphis State University, now known as the University of Memphis.
My musical journey was built on three pillars:
Brass.
Keys.
Training.
Years of study, discipline, performance, and education shaped both my craft and my calling.
Then God introduced me to a new season.
The season of the shofar—a horn not made by man, but shaped by God Himself.
The shofar taught me something profound:
No valves.
No keys.
Only breath.
Only obedience.
That experience transformed the way I understood music. I learned that music is more than technique; it is expression, discipline, confidence, purpose, and connection.
NTooNZ Music LLC was founded to help students discover their own voice, develop their unique talents, and pursue excellence through music education. Whether a student is just beginning or continuing their musical journey, our mission is to provide personalized instruction that builds skill, confidence, character, and purpose.
Because every great musician begins with a sound that inspires them.
